Our September Vacation to the Olympic Peninsula PART 1

We absolutely loved our vacation at the beginning of the month. As it turns out, it was a welcome break of no stress and relaxation. We felt completely disconnected from thoughts of work or callings. We started out with a few days at Mom's and the Ahlstrom's celebrating Cailley's 15th Bday. Can we believe she's getting to be so grown up? Fifteen!!! Yikes-- soon she'll be driving! Heaven help us. Naw, just kidding Cai.

Apparently we like to conserve energy when serving birthday cake??

We then took off on our vacation. First drive through? Port Gamble on our way to the Olympic Peninsula. It was the first time I'd seen it in many years. Patty, Darryl, and a baby Cailley used to live in this house which is now a business in historic Port Gamble.

Soooo, enough silly details. Here goes a shortened trip log (as short as I know how): First stop: Hoh Rain Forest! Yes, it was raining there, though it was not raining until we got into the innermost 1 mile to the center of the parking lot. (It's a 18 mile drive in from the highway).

There's about 10x that amount of pics... but moving on...

Yup, sunny at the coast... cuz next we stopped at Ruby Beach on the Washington Coast after we left the very wet Rain Forest (the only one in the US, I think I was told once).

And that's about all we did through the first 2 days of our vacation... Part 2 coming in a few days... or weeks... or months... :)
